Amelonado is a subvariety of the Forastero cacao, recognized for its high yield and strong resilience. It is predominantly cultivated in “West Africa”, which is responsible for much of the world’s cocoa production. Amelonado cacao pods are typically small, round, and melon-shaped (hence the name), with a thick shell and a vibrant yellow or orange hue when fully ripe.
